YouTube has partnered with an e-commerce platform Shopify to let viewers purchase products within its website.

This means that viewers on YouTube might see a list of items on the page that a creator thinks they might be interested in. If you’re watching a video on a technology YouTube channel, you might see gadgets for sale from the page using Shopify, or makeup products on a beauty channel.

Using the ‘Shopping’ tab in YouTube Studio, creators have the capability to manage the products to list on their channel.

Viewers can complete the transaction while watching a video, ensuring they are within the YouTube site instead of leaving the site to buy a product on another ecommerce site or marketplace. The company also plans to expand shopping features to its Live, Shorts, and long-form video.

Viewers in the U.S., Brazil, and India will experience the pilot first, with additional countries to roll out later this year.
